The Gaston County Carolina Club will host a cocktail buffet on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, at the Schiele Museum in Gastonia from 7-9 p.m. This event is a fundraiser for the Richard M. Penegar ’52 Scholarship which goes each year to a Gaston County student attending UNC.
This year’s speaker is David Chadwick, author of It’s How You Play the Game:The 12 Leadership Principles of Dean Smith. Chadwick, pastor of Forest Hill Church in Charlotte, played for Coach Smith at UNC from 1968-71. This is the only leadership book written about Dean Smith written by a former player.
Tickets for the event cost $35 for General Alumni Association members and $50 for nonmembers. Sponsorships are available for $500 (including two tickets to the event) and $250(one ticket).
Speakers in previous years have been Phil Ford, Sylvia Hatchell and Al Wood.
